WIN-WIN QUALITY FOCUS

  • Around 55% of wines entered into most wine competitions receive a Bronze Medal or Commended.
  • Gold and Silver medal winners usually represent only 10-15%.

We believe that telling consumers 65–70% of the wines entered into a competition are winners diminishes the value of those awards.

To deliver a clear and precise message that all the winning wines in the CSWWC are extremely special, we award publicly only Gold and Silver Medals (and ONLY Gold to Deluxe Champagnes).

However we reserve the right to award a Bronze medal to exceptional sparkling wines from producers in emerging regions or established regions with very little history of sparkling wine production that demonstrate clearly that they are serious about producing the best possible quality, but do not quite reach Silver medal standard.

Win-Win

Although we do not announce or publicise the lower medals, their producers have unfettered access to confidential feedback in the form of tasting notes.

This is a big incentive for producers because their wines are either guaranteed a top award or no one will know that they have participated.

This win-win offer is the price we pay for attracting so many top quality producers to our competition, including many of the most iconic Champagnes and sparkling wines in the world. But we are very happy to pay it, because it is the presence of those great names that defines the CSWWC as the ultimate test of the Champagne & Sparkling Wine World and provides the outstanding yardstick by which other sparkling wines like to be measured.
